Let’s Chit Chat!

I’m going to be completely honest with you, my Starbucks habit was getting out of control. We’re talking $7-$8 a day, sometimes twice a day, and my bank account was NOT having it. So a few years ago, I started reverse-engineering every single Starbucks drink I ordered, and now? I genuinely prefer what I make at home.

Between my Breville and De’Longhi espresso machines, a solid cold brew system, and a fridge full of homemade syrups, I’ve basically built a Starbucks inside my kitchen.

This hub post is the master list of every Starbucks copycat recipe I’ve developed on Lifestyle of a Foodie. Whether you’re a cold brew purist, a frappuccino fanatic, or a seasonal-drink-only kind of person, I have something for you. Bookmark this page because I update it every time a new recipe goes live!

Which Homemade Starbucks Drink Should You Make First?

With over 65 Starbucks copycat recipes on this page, it can feel overwhelming to pick one! So here’s my quick recommendation based on what you’re in the mood for:

Starbucks Copycat Cold Brew Recipes

Cold brew is hands-down the most popular category on my blog, and for good reason. These recipes are smooth, bold, and incredibly easy to customize at home. Each one features that signature Starbucks layered look with sweet cream or flavored cold foam on top. Additionally, cold brew is naturally less acidic than regular iced coffee, which makes it easier on your stomach while still delivering a serious caffeine kick.

Homemade Starbucks Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew

Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew

This is the recipe that started it all for me! Smooth cold brew topped with homemade vanilla sweet cream that swirls beautifully into the coffee. It’s simple, elegant, and tastes exactly like the Starbucks original. If you’ve never made a copycat Starbucks drink before, this is the perfect place to start.

Salted Cream Cold Foam Cold Brew

If you love a salty-sweet combo, this one is for you. The cold foam is thick, lightly salted, and sits perfectly on top of the cold brew without sinking right away. It’s one of those drinks that makes you feel like a professional barista, even though it takes about 5 minutes to throw together.

Salted Caramel Cold Foam Cold Brew

Take the salted cream version above and add caramel to the mix, you get this absolute masterpiece. The caramel flavor comes through in every sip, and the sea salt elevates everything. Honestly, this one might be even better than the Starbucks version because you can control how much caramel goes in. And if you like a lot like me, well then you can definitely do that without the upcharge!

Chocolate Cream Cold Brew

When Starbucks dropped this one during summer, I knew immediately I had to recreate it. The chocolate cream foam tastes like a melted chocolate milkshake sitting on top of smooth cold brew coffee. It’s indulgent and refreshing at the same time, which honestly shouldn’t be possible but here we are.

Mocha Cold Brew

For all my chocolate-and-coffee lovers out there, this mocha cold brew combines rich chocolate sauce with smooth cold brew for a drink that’s both refreshing and indulgent. It’s less milky than a mocha latte, so the coffee flavor really shines through while the chocolate adds depth and sweetness.

Homemade Starbucks Shaken Espresso Recipes

Shaken espressos took the coffee world by storm, and they’re surprisingly easy to make at home. The key is shaking the espresso with ice and syrup to create that frothy, aerated texture you get at Starbucks. All you need is a cocktail shaker or a mason jar with a tight lid, seriously, that’s it!

Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso

This is THE drink that went viral on TikTok and honestly changed the game for homemade coffee. The combination of brown sugar syrup, cinnamon, espresso, and creamy oat milk is absolutely unreal. My recipe nails that signature layered look, and the flavor is warm, slightly spiced, and perfectly balanced.

Iced Caramel Macchiato

That gorgeous layered look with vanilla milk, espresso, and caramel drizzle? You can absolutely nail it at home. The key is pouring the espresso over the back of a spoon so it floats on top of the milk. My recipe includes the exact proportions to match the Starbucks version.

A vibrant green, creamy, and slightly earthy latte that’s just as pretty as the Starbucks version. This recipe uses high-quality matcha powder whisked with milk for a smooth, clump-free drink every time. Frappuccinos are basically dessert in a cup, and making them at home means you can go as wild or as simple as you want. Trust me on this one!

Vanilla Bean Frappuccino

The classic cream-based frappuccino that tastes like a vanilla milkshake but without the ice cream! This recipe uses vanilla bean paste for those gorgeous little specks and that authentic Starbucks flavor. It’s creamy, dreamy, and the perfect treat on a hot day.

Refreshers, Teas & Non-Coffee Starbucks Drinks

Not every Starbucks drink needs coffee! These refreshers and tea-based drinks are fruity, vibrant, and perfect for warm weather. They’re also great options for anyone who loves Starbucks but wants to skip the caffeine (or at least the coffee). Each recipe is surprisingly simple to pull together at home with grocery store ingredients.

Homemade Starbucks Syrups & Sauces

This section is where the REAL magic happens, and honestly, it’s what sets my Starbucks copycat recipes apart from everyone else’s. When you make your own syrups and sauces from scratch, you can customize any Starbucks drink to taste exactly how you want it. Plus, most of these keep in the fridge for 2-4 weeks, so you can batch-make them on a Sunday and enjoy barista-quality drinks all week long.

Seasonal & Flavored Syrups

From holiday sugar cookie to fall pumpkin spice, these homemade syrups let you recreate every seasonal Starbucks flavor at home. They’re incredibly easy to make, most come together in under 15 minutes on the stove and they taste so much fresher than store-bought versions.

How to Make Starbucks Cold Foam at Home (3 Flavors)

Cold foam is that thick, velvety layer that sits on top of your iced coffee and slowly melts into the drink as you sip. Making it at home is incredibly simple, all you need is a handheld milk frother or a mason jar and some arm strength! Here are my three most popular cold foam flavors:

Pro tip: You can add any of my homemade syrups to plain cold foam to create your own custom flavors! A tablespoon of pistachio syrup in cold foam? Chef’s kiss. Pumpkin spice cold foam? YES. The possibilities are endless.

Tips for Making Homemade Starbucks Drinks at Home

After years of developing these Starbucks copycat recipes, I’ve picked up some tricks that make a huge difference. Here are my top recommendations for getting coffee-shop-quality results in your own kitchen.

  • Invest in a milk frother. Even a cheap handheld one makes a world of difference for lattes and cold foam.
  • Make syrups in batches. Spend 30 minutes on a Sunday making 2-3 syrups and you’ll have barista-level drinks all week. Store them in glass jars in the fridge.
  • Use quality coffee. The coffee itself matters! For cold brew, I recommend a medium or dark roast. For espresso drinks, a good espresso blend makes all the difference.
  • Don’t skip the xanthan gum for frappuccinos. It’s the secret ingredient that keeps blended drinks thick and creamy instead of separating into ice and liquid within minutes.
  • Temperature matters for cold foam. Use very cold heavy cream or milk straight from the fridge. Warm dairy won’t froth properly for cold foam.
  • Customize! The entire point of making Starbucks drinks at home is that YOU control the sweetness, the milk type, and the flavors. Don’t be afraid to adjust ratios to suit your taste.

Frequently Asked Questions about these Starbucks recipes at home

How much money can I save making Starbucks drinks at home?

A LOT. Most Starbucks drinks cost between $5-$8. My homemade Starbucks Drinks cost roughly $0.50-$1.50 per drink when you account for ingredients. If you make one drink per day, that’s a savings of over $150 per month. Over a year, you could save $1,500-$2,000!

Do I need an espresso machine to make these recipes?

Nope! While I use my Breville or De’Longhi espresso machine for most of these, every recipe includes alternatives. You can use a stovetop moka pot, an AeroPress, strong brewed coffee, or even instant espresso dissolved in hot water. The flavors will be slightly different but still delicious.

What kind of milk should I use for Starbucks copycat recipes?

Starbucks uses 2% milk as their default, so that’s what most of my recipes call for. However, creamy oat milk is my personal favorite for lattes and shaken espressos because it froths beautifully and has a naturally creamy sweetness. Almond milk works great for the sugar cookie latte specifically!

How long do homemade syrups and sauces last?

Most of my homemade syrups last 2-4 weeks in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Sauces like the mocha sauce and white chocolate mocha sauce typically last about 2 weeks. Always store them in glass jars for the best freshness.

Can I make these recipes dairy-free?

Absolutely! Oat milk is the best all-around dairy-free substitute for lattes and frothing. For cold foam, coconut cream works wonderfully. For syrups and sauces, most are naturally dairy-free, though the white chocolate mocha sauce does contain cream, you can sub coconut cream for that one.

What equipment do I need to get started?

At minimum, you’ll want a handheld milk frother ($6-$15), a cocktail shaker or mason jar (for shaken espressos), and a blender (for frappuccinos). An espresso machine is a bonus but not required.
