greens shot recipe for cheap

Have you ever seen those extremely overpriced green health shots being sold at your local grocery stores or health food stores? They’re usually between $4-$7, which if you asked me is a little pricey for a 1 -2 ounce little bottle!

Believe it or not I have never purchased them myself because I am as frugal as it gets. When I know I can make something at home, 99% of the time, I will just make it at home. I do that because, well, first it saves me money. But it also allows me to know exactly what’s in it and how clean the work space is …

So when these healthy drink shots became popular, I knew that I wanted in! I purchased a whole bunch of green veggies as well as some low sugar fruits and started blending! It is a fairly simple process, but can be a little time consuming so I often do this during the weekend to meal prep my green shots for the week.

This is probably the cheapest green wellness shot recipe you can make at home and I love it!

I keep saying that this is cheap, but I feel like that is something that counts and would definitely encourage more people to try this recipe. Plus if I can help one person through this recipe I am sharing, I’d be happy!

These green wellness shots are a great way to get an extra dose of vitamins, antioxidants, as well as minerals! Plus they taste pretty good if you ask me 🙂

Green health shot for healthy body

What’s so special about this green shot recipe

These are exteemely special in my book! They are:

  • Cheap, cheap, cheap! When you think of buying a greens shot, you’re automatically looking into spending at least $4. But this recipe actually costed me $3.20 for all the ingredients! Wild, right!?
  • It is packed with health benefits.
  • You can easily make it at home.
  • It is versatile… So no, parsley? No problem! Use cilantro or mint or anything you have on hand. Everything natural is packed with health benefits but definitely thin about the flavor as well! I wouldn’t recommend adding chives to this lol.
  • You can make these green wellness shots in the blender and use your nut milk bag to get the juice out! No juicer needed recipe here 🙂
Ingredients for health shots

Ingredients to make green shots at home

  • Celery- Celery is perfect for this recipe because it is packed with water. So you won’t have to add any water to blend this homemade green juice.
  • Cucumber– Cucumber is also packed with water so it will make these immunity shots more hydrating.
  • Green apple– Green apples will give this immunity shots recipe a slight sweetness and will help balance out the flavors or the celery and parsley.
  • Lime– Lime will also balance out the flavors of the spicy ginger as hell as the herbs.
  • Ginger– Ginger will give this the much needed kick and nutrition benefits.
  • Parsley– I know that adding parsley to juice might seem a little weird, but trust me on this. It is extremely good for you, and this is a great way to get in those benefits.

What are the health benefits of these green shots

Seriously, eating green foods is a pleasure when you have things this tasty. This is not only tasty but it is jam packed with health nutrients that we can all benefit from!

Some of the health benefits of this green wellness shot are that it is packed with anti-oxidants. It is a great anti-inflammatory drink. The addition of parsley gives it a huge vitamin K boost, which helps your blood clot (If you have blood clotting issues make sure to check with your doctor before you have this). The ginger in this green shot recipe also contains so much good for you, soothing digestion is a huge plus as well as making your immune system stronger.

So all in all, this health shot recipe is definitely something to add into your diet especially in the summer time. It will keep you hydrated and will help you get it all your nutrients!

  • How to make juice without a juicer

How to make juice without a juicer at home

Making juice without a juicer at home doesn’t have to be intimidating… or expensive for that matter. The way I learned to do it, is to blend all my ingredients and then pour that thick mixture in my nut milk bag. Squeeze all the juice out and tada! You got yourself some fresh green juice.

This is also helpful if you just don’t want to buy a juicer because you live in an apartment like me. A nut milk bag stores well , because let’s be honest, it takes no room at all and it works great!

How to store this green goddess juice shot?

This juice is best consumed within a couple of days of making. It does get a little bitter so if you are not planning on consuming it within 2-3 days, freeze it in individual servings!

When you make your green wellness shotsm you have two options:

  • You can either store them individually in smaller bottles. This will make for the perfect grab and go drink and place it in the fridge.
  • Or you can store the whole thing in a big glass bottle in the fridge and pour yourself 2 ounces every morning!

I say 2 ounces, but hey feel free to have as much as you want. It’s healthy and good for you, plus with this summer heat, it’s refreshing AF!

This frosting is not playing around. 🍫✨
It’s rich, extra chocolatey, smooth as silk, and honestly… better than store-bought anything.

I made a batch of this chocolate buttercream and had to stop myself from just eating it with a spoon. No judgment if you do. 😂

🧁 It’s perfect for cupcakes, layer cakes, brownies, or even stuffed between cookies if you’re feeling extra.

✅ Made with real butter, cocoa powder, a touch of salt, and just the right amount of sweetness to balance the richness.
✅ Whips up in minutes, but tastes like it came from a fancy bakery.

Tip: For the richest flavor, use a mix of Dutch-processed and natural cocoa powder. It gives depth and makes the chocolate really shine. 🌟

Save this post so you don’t lose it next time you need a frosting that actually delivers.

Do you ever just want something chocolatey…
but not a full-on brownie, not a cupcake, and definitely not something that requires frosting or extra steps?
Just something simple and satisfying?

That’s exactly where these chocolate sugar cookie bars come in.
Soft and chewy with crackly edges, a deep cocoa flavor, and little bursts of melted chocolate chips on top.
They come together in one bowl, no mixer needed, no chill time, no fuss.

They’re the kind of treat you bake on a cozy night in,
when you want your kitchen to smell amazing
but don’t feel like measuring out 12 ingredients or rolling out dough.

You press the dough in the pan, sprinkle on some mini chocolate chips, and bake.
That’s it. And they slice up so cleanly once cooled—perfect little squares of happiness.

Save this for your next “I need chocolate but I also need ease” moment.
You’ll be glad you did. 🍫✨

This chocolate buttercream is dangerously good 😵‍💫

It’s rich, fluffy, and comes together with just a handful of ingredients—like real cocoa powder, softened butter, and a splash of cream to make it extra smooth.

I tested a few versions and this one hits that sweet spot between fudgy and whipped. Not too sweet, not too bitter. Just right.

Use it on cupcakes, cakes, brownies…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Full recipe’s on the blog, but if you’re making it:
✨ Use room temp butter and cream
✨ Sift your dry ingredients (makes a difference!)
✨ Whip it extra long for that cloud-like texture

Save this for later and tag me if you make it! 🍫🧁

Tell me why I’ve been craving every childhood treat lately…

These cosmic brownies? Absolute throwback. But better. Like, homemade, rich, fudgy, topped with silky ganache and the cutest rainbow chips better.

I tested this recipe to get that signature dense-but-soft brownie texture we all remember from the Little Debbie days—but with way more chocolate flavor and none of the weird ingredients.

The secret? A glossy stovetop butter-sugar-cocoa base (trust me, this makes a difference), and pouring the ganache on the bottom for that picture-perfect finish.

Chill them. Slice them. Watch them disappear in 5 seconds flat.

Save this for the next time you need something nostalgic but next-level good.

The easiest dessert to bring to your Memorial Day BBQ? These peanut butter cookies.
3 ingredients. 1 bowl. No fuss. Just chewy, sweet, nostalgic goodness that everyone will love.

If you’re someone who waits until the last minute to make something for a get-together… this one’s for you.
They come together in under 15 minutes and never disappoint.

Naturally gluten-free, flourless, and endlessly customizable if you’re in the mood to add a little something extra (hello, flaky sea salt or chocolate drizzle 👀).

Save this post so you always have a go-to dessert for holidays, parties, or lazy baking days.
And tell me—are you baking anything for Memorial Day this year? https://lifestyleofafoodie.com/soft-3-ingredient-peanut-butter-cookies/

When life gives you lemons…
add raspberries and make this lemonade. 🍋✨

This isn’t your average store-bought stuff —
it’s freshly squeezed lemon juice + blended raspberries + just the right amount of sweetness.
Refreshing, tart, a little fancy, and SO easy to make. 💕

Here’s what you’ll need:
🍋 Fresh or frozen raspberries
🍋 Lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
🍋 Sugar (or your fave sweetener)
🍋 Cold water
🍋 Ice, lemon slices, and fresh berries to garnish if you’re feelin’ extra

Blend, strain, stir, pour. That’s it.

Perfect for summer hangs, brunches, or just a little treat for yourself on a hot day.
Save it, share it, make it. You’re gonna be obsessed. 💗

This red, white & blue Bundt cake is giving major festive vibes 🇺🇸✨ Perfect for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, or honestly any summer BBQ where you want to impress without too much fuss. The inside is soft, buttery, and swirled with vibrant layers of color—and the best part? You don’t need any fancy techniques, just a spoon and a little swirl action.

I used a mix of buttermilk, sour cream, and a splash of oil to make sure it’s super moist (because no one wants a dry cake). Then tinted the batter red and blue, layered it into a Bundt pan, and baked it up into this stunner. Once it’s cool, you can keep it simple with a dusting of powdered sugar or go all-out with a white chocolate ganache and sprinkles.

It’s fun, festive, and guaranteed to be the first thing gone at the dessert table.

Would you serve this with ganache or keep it classic with powdered sugar?

Hi! I’m wondering if these will keep for 5 days. I know they may get bitter but will they make you ill? Thanks!

It should taste the same between 2-3 days then as you know it does get bitter but if you freeze it, it can last longer!
