What are CRUMBL cookies ?
CRUMBL cookies or CRUMBL bakery is a cookie bakery that started out in Utah. It was started by two cousins that loved cookies so much that they wanted to share that with the world. The craziest and most fun part about how this company came about is how they came up with their recipes.
They would go to gas stations, and other public places and share cookies with random people who asked them which cookie they preferred. Each time, they would change one ingredient in the cookies and then ask again until they came out with THE PERFECT COOKIE!
Today, we’re on a quest to make out the perfect almond pink chilled sugar cookie and I think we nailed it!
Why do you need to make these sugar cookies?
- They’re the perfect Crumbl copycat recipe
- Each cookie will be giant, just like the ones you would get at Crumbl. They are also thick and chewy.
- The sugar cooking frosting has a hint of almond for very luxurious cookies
- They are made with very simple ingredients that you probably already have at home.
- This recipe will help you save money as a batch of these can cost quite a lot! Plus it can be a fun little baking activity to do at home on weekends!

Ingredients for giant sugar cookies
Here are the ingredients you will need to make these chilled sugar cookies. Make sure to scroll down to the recipe card for the full detailed ingredient measurements.
- Butter- You will need to use unsalted butter for these cookies as well as for the frosting. Make sure it is softened.
- oil– The vegetable or canola oil is used to keep the cookies moist even after baking and chilling.
- Granulated and powdered sugar– This sugar cookie uses both granulated sugar and powdered sugar for the ultimate melt-in-your-mouth experience.
- Egg– You will need one large egg at room temperature.
- Vanilla and almond extract– The cookie from Crumbl has hints of vanilla and almond so we use both to make the best copycat recipe out there!
- Flour– All-purpose flour works great for this recipe.
- Salt– I always use a bit of salt to my baked goods to balance out the sweetness.
- Cream of tartar– The cream of tartar is used alongside the baking powder to add a little height to these cookies as well as keep it extra soft.
- Baking powder– The baking powder is the leavening agent for this cookie recipe.
- Heavy cream– The heavy cream is used to get out pink sugar cookie almond frosting to the right consistency.
- Pink gel food coloring– I used the Wilton pink food coloring to get the pink color in the frosting.
How to soften butter quickly?
Since this copycat Crumbl sugar cookie recipe uses softened butter, here are a few tips to soften your butter quickly.
- Cutting method- Cut your butter into smaller cubes to allow it to soften quicker.
- Microwave and water method- Microwave a cup of water for 1-2 minutes or until really hot. Place your butter on a plate then remove the hot water from the microwave and place the plate of butter in there. Quickly close the microwave door and let it sit there for 10 minutes to soften.
- Grating method- Grate the cold butter with a cheese grater and let it sit for a few minutes to soften.
Variations and substitutions
- If you don’t love almond extract just use more vanilla instead. It will still be super delicious and rich without that almond flavoring.
- Want to make these Crumbl sugar cookies for a gender reveal party or any other party that doesn’t involve pink frosting? You can use any gel food coloring for that frosting.

Depending on the size of your baking sheet you can either do 6 for the large baking sheets or 2 for the smaller ones. Also, these cookies don’t spread too much but they still need some room to expand slightly and allow the heat to circulate properly.

I wonder if you can clarify for me…do you chill the baked cookies before frosting?
I have a batch in the oven, and I guess I will, but wondering if I’m supposed to.
💞
Chahinez
Hi there! You allow the baked cookies to cool to room temp first. Then frost and chill in the fridge before serving.
Katie
My daughter called me today and said she was craving a sugar cookie and wanted to come visit. I’ve never found a recipe I could say I wanted to make again though…except for today. This recipe is absolutely incredible, easy to follow and just perfection in my opinion. My new favorite, forever! 💞
Chahinez
YESS to new favorites!! Thank you so much!
Eileen
I have been loving making crumbl copy cat recipes. This one is amazing! i love to bake so this was exactly what I needed on a Friday afternoon! I will definitely be making this again!!
Chahinez
That’s awesome! I’m glad you like the recipe!😊
Felicia Wiesen
This might be my personal favorite cookie of all time (which is saying a lot because I’m a huge chocolate lover)! It makes a ton of frosting, which I appreciate.
Chahinez
Thank you Felicia!
Alice
These are amazing! They are so fluffy & light and I like them so much more than crumbl’s sugar cookie. This is literally the best copycat sugar cookie I’ve had too (I’ve tried multiple)! I made these Halloween themed too just in time for the next holiday. The almond flavor was just light enough, the frosting was soft and silky, and the cookie had the perfect cakey texture. Next time I might even roll them in some sugar just to give them an added texture.
This was a 10/10 recipe Chahinez, thank you! 😀
Chahinez
Thank you so much! Glad to hear you liked them!
Susie
Thank you so much for sharing these fantastic recipes, they are beyond delicious! Looking forward to working my way through each of them (will be too hard to pick a favourite I’m sure!)
Chahinez
You’re welcome! Thank you for making the recipes!
Maddie
I made these this morning to share with my bible study group, and they are fantastic. I used 1 Tbsp of heavy cream instead of 4 and the texture was perfect! So excited to share these on Monday.
Chahinez
This sounds great Maddie. I hope they liked them!
Danielle
These cookies were amazing. I didn’t dye the icing but other than that followed the recipe exactly. I will definitely be making these again.
Chahinez
Awhh glad to hear that Danielle!
Oryan
we don’t have Crumbl in France so I can’t compare tastes but this recipe is awesome. It is very easy to do and foolproof. the only drawback is that the icing is too sweet for me but they are still very good.

As a major Crumbl pink sugar cookie fan, I am sorry to say this just didn’t taste like the Crumbl cookie to me. Too much flour in the cookie recipe and I could hardly taste the almond in the cookie nor the frosting (even with the extra added amount).
Chahinez
Oh that sucks! Was there a part that was too difficult for you in the recipe?
Krystal
We don’t have crumble in Canada so I have no idea what that’s like but this recipe is awesome! Very well written. Easy to follow. Final product looks just like the pictures. I turned out 18 perfect cookies. They taste great. I’ll be trying more of your recipes! Keep up the great work!
Chahinez
That’s what I like to hear! I’m glad you enjoyed them Krystal!
Kels
Made this recipe for the first time today, and I love them! I have never been to a Crumbl, and I might never need to with all of these copycat recipes! I’m a professional baker at a restaurant/bakery and I could totally see myself using a tweaked version of this recipe there. I added a 1/4 tsp of rose water (just bc I love rose) to the frosting recipe and love how it turned out. Thank you!
Chahinez
I’m so happy you loved these Kel! You’re welcome.
Nina
Just made these, so good! And not difficult either! I plan on trying more of your recipes, thanks for putting these out there 💗 I was craving Crumbl but we live an hour away from the closest one. I had all the ingredients at home except the gel coloring. I’ll get that for next time, but it doesn’t affect the taste. 😊
Chahinez
Amazing to hear! You’re very welcome Nina!
Kathy
Can these be made in a smaller size?
Chahinez
Yes!
Susan
You are a genius! I just heard about “Crumbl” cookies 2 days ago so naturally I had to find recipes I could make myself since we don’t have a shop near us. These are absolutely wonderful and I didn’t change a thing. I am 78 and have been baking since I was 10 and always am on the lookout for new dessert ideas. I will try all you other copycat cookies and am sure they will be great. In my family we always eat dinner just to get to the dessert.
Chahinez
This is amazing to hear Susan! Thank you!!
Robin

Chahinez
That’s awesome!

I added the additional 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract to the frosting and it tasted just like crumbl’s cookie. I’ll definitely use this recipe again. I might have to half it, just because they’re so sweet and rich. I’ll have to try the churro cookie recipe next. Thanks for sharing Chahinez 🙂
Chahinez
You’re welcome! Thank you for trying out the recipe!😁
Daren
This recipe is the BOMB DOT COM! The recipe is so easy to follow and they turned out perfectly! I didn’t change a single thing. I love how you can eat these chilled or not chilled depending on your preference. So soft and the perfect amount of sweetness. Thank you for sharing! I’m going to make all of your other cookie recipes so I better stop writing and get busy! LOL!
Yummmmm!
Chahinez
I love this!!! So glad to hear you enjoyed them!
Tara
Would you be willing to post a recipe for the Crumbl sugar cookies with the white frosting? I absolutely love those. Thanks for you consideration!
Haleema
Love this recipe thanks so much, I just had a few questions.
Firstly, if i were to make each cookie smaller (2 tbsp) would you know how much to alter the baking time?
Second, do you think it would be possible to substitute the frosting for royal icing frosting as I want to make details on the cookies or not. I would use a thicker consistency than the flooding one (if you’re familiar w royal icing 15-25s and so)
Thank you for sharing the recipe once again!!
Chahinez
You can bake the cookies for about 2 minutes less than you would for the larger cookies. You can also use whichever icing you’d like! They are pretty forgiving.
Caroline
Hi! Just curious as to what oil you use in this recipe-thanks!
Chahinez
unflavored oil, so vegetable or canola
Mac
What is 4 and 0.67 cups?
Chahinez
It’s 4 cups and 2/3 cups! That’s for the double measurements.
