These ruffles krispy treats are the best sweet and salty cousins of the beloved rice krispies treats. Instead of using regular rice krispy cereal, we are using original ruffles chips or any ruffles chips you enjoy to make some of the best snack foods out there. This is a great recipe for salty-sweet lovers and will become your family’s favorite in no time/

I am the biggest sweet and salty food fan so when I tried this for the first time I knew I had a newfound favorite and for a good reason!

The amount of potato chip crumbs in the marshmallow mixture yields the perfect balance of salt and has an insane

Ingredients for these ruffles krispy treats

Here are the ingredients you will need to make this ruffles krispy treats recipe. Make sure to scroll down to the recipe card for the full detailed ingredient measurements. 

  • Mini marshmallows
  • A bag of potato chips –  I used the wavy potato chips kind. No need to go for the crazy flavors, just salted is perfect for this recipe.
  • Butter
  • Flaky sea salt – The sea salt on top will give our bars a little more of that salty flavor making sure that the sweetness of the marshmallows doesn’t overpower the salty flavor we are going for.

How to make the best ruffles Krispy treats that the whole family will love!?

  1. In a medium saucepan melt butter, then add in the marshmallows and mix on medium-low heat until fully melted.
  2. Add in the ridged potato chips to the melted marshmallow mixture and stir to coat. Feel free to break the chip up a little bit to make sure everything is well coated. 
  3. In a greased baking dish or a parchment paper or wax paper lined baking dish, gently spread the mixture evenly using your greased hand if the mixture is cool enough or a greased spatula.  I like to spray my hand or spatula with nonstick cooking spray to make it easier. 
  4. Top with sea salt and lightly press to allow that to stick. 
  5. Allow the crispy treats to set at room temperature for 30 minutes or so then slive.

You can store these at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 4 days. If they get a little hard, microwave them for a few seconds to get them ooey gooey again before enjoying them.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 5 cups Ruffles potato chips about 8 oz
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Sea salt
  • Cooking spray or additional butter for greasing the pan

Instructions
 

  • Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan with cooking spray or butter. Set aside.

  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows to the saucepan and stir continuously until they are completely melted and smooth.
    3 tablespoons unsalted butter, 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and add in the Ruffles potato chips. Stir quickly and thoroughly until the chips are fully coated with the marshmallow mixture. It's okay to break the chips as you go to coat them better.
    5 cups Ruffles potato chips
  • Transfer the mixture into the greased baking pan. Using a buttered spatula or your hands (lightly greased with butter or cooking spray), press the mixture into the pan. Top with sea salt for a more sweet and salty vibe.

  • Allow the Ruffles Chips Marshmallow Treats to cool and set at room temperature for about 30 minutes to an hour.
  • Once cooled and set, cut into squares or rectangles of your desired size.
