  • Red Velvet Oreos: The inclusion of red velvet Oreos provides a rich cocoa flavor and red hue, giving the classic Oreo balls their delicious flavor and color.
  • Cream Cheese: Cream cheese provides the glue that holds the Oreo crumbs of the crushed cookies together and adds an amazingly decadent texture.
  • Green Candy Melts: The combination of the bright green color of the candy melts with the deep red of the Oreo filling creates a beautiful holiday treat that is perfect for the Christmas season.
  • Red Heart Sprinkles: The Grinch’s heart being three sizes too big is iconic of the character, so we had to include candy hearts in this recipe.

Help, my candy melts aren’t thin enough?

Some candy melt brands aren’t thin enough for dipping these Oreo truffles when melted. The solution to this issue would be to add about ½-1 teaspoon of coconut oil or any unflavored vegetable oil when melting it.

This will still allow the candy melts to harden when chilled, but it will make the dipping process much easier and the final result will look absolutely stunning.

Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ

How to Store These Grinch Oreo Balls

In The Fridge

Since these truffles have cream cheese, it’s best to store them in the fridge instead of outside at room temperature. A large Ziplock bag or airtight container would be best, and they should last for around two weeks.

In The Freezer

If you want to freeze them, use a large freezer bag and store them for up to two months.

How to Make These Grinch Oreo Truffles Vegan

You can easily make vegan Grinch Oreo truffles by changing two of the ingredients.

First, use vegan cream cheese instead of traditional ream cheese. Second, make sure you get vegan candy melts since most of them have milk products.

Can I Use White Chocolate for The Coating Instead of Candy Melts?

Yes! You can make the green coating using white chocolate and green food coloring, just make sure that the food coloring is oil-based. If it’s made with water, it will not mix well with the hot white chocolate.

what do you use to substitute for the discontinued red velvet oreos?

I haven’t made these since they were discontinued so that’s a good question. Since there are many companies who make off-brand copies of Oreo cookies, what I would do is try to find just any red velvet cookie sandwich and use that. The red velvet flavor should be there, and you could even add a little dark black cocoa powder to really emulate that Oreo flavor. Hope this helps 🙂
