Someone take away this 10th slice of margarita pesto pizza off my hand because I can’t stop and I haven’t left anything for the rest of the family!!
Because this flat bread pesto mozzarella pizza is so easy and quick to make, I think I can afford to eat it all because it will take me about 20 minutes to make another one for everyone else.
Since this pizza recipe doesn’t require you to spend hours in the kitchen , it is perfect for weeknight dinners AKA our favorite school night meal after a day of hard work.
This is the fastest and easiest flat bread margarita pizza with pesto you will ever make!
Because you don’t have to make the dough from scratch you end up saving so much time. The naan bread or flat bread is also pre-cooked so you will only need to cook it enough to melt the cheese and get the crust toasted and crunchy which doesn’t take that much time.
I adore making this easy meal because it allows me to use pantry staples to make a personal pizza or appetizers for everyone to enjoy. Let’s face it everyone loves finger food!
Also, if you want to make this pizza on a real pizza dough and not on flat bread, make sure to check out this NO FAIL Pizza dough for Two. It has the best pizza dough texture ever and makes a smaller batch ( of course you can always double or triple this bad boy up.)
What is a margherita pizza?
This is a toughie as it differs from place to place. When I lived in Algeria a margherita pizza was a pizza made using mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, and basil on top. I believe it is the same thing in many other places.
But when I moved to America and started working at a pizza shop, they called their garlic sauce, pizza slices, mozzarella pizza a margarita. So I am going with that one for this recipe since most of my audience is in the United States. If you’re not from here, let’s just call this pizza a flat bread or naan pizza with tomato slices, mozzarella, and homemade pesto!
What is flat bread pizza?
As simple as it sounds. It is a pizza that is made with flat bread or naan bread instead of making the traditional pizza dough. Making flat bread pizza is a great way to save up on time and get to eat your creation a lot faster without too much effort.

Ingredients to make this pesto pizza recipe
To make this naan pizza you will need the following ingredients:
- Naan– I used store bought naan from StoneFire Naan. It crisps up so well and tastes incredible.
- Mozzarella– I used mozzarella slices that I purchased at Costco this time. They sell them in bulk and are so much cheaper.
- Tomato slices– You will need fresh Roma tomatoes, that you will slice and top your pizzas with.
- Garlic– You will need some fresh garlic cloves that you will mince to use at the main layer of this pizza.
- Olive oil– A good quality olive oil is always key when cooking.
- Fresh pesto– You can either purchase your pesto or go to my article for how to make your own pesto at home and use that.

how to make naan bread margarita pizza with pesto?
- Start preheating the oven to 350F then mix the minced garlic with the olive oil in a small bowl.
- Place the flat breads or naan on a large baking sheet, then brush both of them with the garlic and olive oil mixture, splitting it equally in half between them. Bake in the oven for 5 minutes to crisp up the flat bread.
- Once the 5 minutes are up, remove the pan from the oven being careful as it is extremely hot. Top each naan with 3 slices of mozzarella each ( I broke each slice into smaller pieces to cover a higher surface) then add in the tomato slices. Sprinkle some salt and pepper on the flat bread pizzas then put them back in the oven for another 10-15 minutes or until the crust is crispy and the cheese is perfectly melted.
- Once the flat bread pizzas are baked and out of the oven, drizzle some homemade pesto on them, slice and enjoy!

How to reheat flatbread pizza?
To reheat your pizza you can place a skillet or a pan over medium heat and add your flat bread on that. Cover with a lid to get your cheese nice and melty again and reheat for 2-3 minutes until the crust is crispy and the cheese is melted.
