But for now we’re gonna enjoy these bakery inspired Oreo flavored cookies that you can make in the comfort of you own home. #winning!

Frequently asked questions – FAQ
Can I use double stuffed Oreos or thin Oreos for these cookies?
No, make sure to use the regular Oreos to keep the texture of these cookies the same. If you use the double stuffed oreos, the stuffing will bring too much moisture to these cookies and if you use the think ones, there won’t be enough cookie or stuffing to make the exact cookie dough that I made for this recipe.
So make sure that you stick with the regular Oreo cookies for this recipe!
How to store these Oreo sugar cookies?
These chocolate sugar cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
You can also store them in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 7 days. Make sure to bring them down to room temperature before enjoying them, otherwise, they will be too hard.
These cookies can also be frozen in an air-tight container for up to 2 months. Thaw them in the fridge overnight and then let them get back to room temperature before enjoying them.
Do I have to frost them?
No you don’t.
Frosting them is not necessary but it helps make the sugar cookie taste like an Oreo. I frosted them because I was trying to make a copycat CRUMBL Oreo cookie, but if that’s not what you’re going for, you can leave them naked.

I feel terrible leaving a lower than 5 star review, I just really don’t think I am all that much of a chocolate cookie person. These things were very sweet & very chocolatey. They basically tasted like a giant oreo. They seemed to be a hit amongst my family, though! Said they were the sweetest and most delicious cookies ever. Personally I just found them a little dense, oh well! :/

My husband is obsessed with these!! I tweaked the icing to be cream cheese instead of traditional buttercream and loved the slight tang. Totally recommend this recipe 😊
Jessica
First time making these last night and brought them to work for our unit meeting. Even the guy that doesn’t eat chocolate ate it and said he loved it! My supervisor described these as a an overload bursting overload oreo cookie, so he ate it. I sprinkled crushed cookies on top and put half cut of an Oreo on top of each cookie for presentation like
crumbl. Only thing I have to say is the dough comes out kind of wet and soft, so don’t press down on the cookie ball. When you bake it leave it as a round ball. My second tray I didn’t press it down and it came out thicker. The first tray that was pushed down was big and flatter. It all came out very soft, moist and chewy no doubt.
Chahinez
Thank you so much for trying these cookies out Jessica! I’m happy to hear everyone loved these ben people who don’t like chocolate!!

Liv
i have one question, should i leave the filling in the oreos when i grind them in the food processor or scrape it off??
Chahinez
Hi Liv!
Use regular Oreos and leave the filling when grinding them. Make sure you don’t use double stuffed as the filling in those will change the consistency of these cookies.
Hope this helped 🙂

I’m just curious where I was supposed to incorporate the granulated sugar because it didn’t say it in the directions
Chahinez
Hi Clare! Sorry about the misunderstanding. For this recipe, you’ll have to cream the butter with the brown sugar and the granulated sugar.
Chahinez

Unfortunately, these weren’t my favorite. I felt like the cookie itself lacked moistness and the true chocolatey flavor I look for in a cookie. The buttercream was good, but nothing spectacular. I think if I make oreo inspired cookies again, I will use the hot cocoa cookie base, top it with buttercream and oreo crumbles! Regardless, I’m still glad I made these because my family seemed to love it!
Kay
Not only do I live these cookies so does my granddaughter..she is very picky but will eat a whole one and beg for a secong..I live how it has crushed oreos in the batter ..hands down great cookie and recipe
Chahinez
Thank you so much for making these, Kay! Glad to hear both of you loved them 🙂

Brookiemay
Hey I was in the middle of making these and I see 3 types of sugar in the dough but the directions only mention creaming granulated and brown…is powdered sugar in there too???
Chahinez
Yes!
1/4 cup powdered sugar.
Chahinez
Dacia
Tasty but mine spread. A lot! What could be the reason?
Chahinez
The reason for that would be either using really warm ingredients or using double stuffed oreos!
