This Velvety Smooth Avocado Smoothie with Banana is the perfect 4 ingredient 5 minute recipes. It has a very unique creaminess that comes from the avocado without that strong avocado flavor. It is full of nutrients and is so so filling!
Hello friends!
It seems like I have been on a roll with the Smoothie recipe lately, if you don’t know what I am talking about then check out my healthy:
To be honest, I don’t usually have smoothies when it starts getting colder but when I asked my instagram followers if they did or not have smoothies in the winter time, the majority said they did because it helped them get in all the needed vitamins!
I kinda got inspired and figured why not try to have smoothies again. I don’t use frozen fruits too much and if I do I let my smoothie get to room temperature or close before I have ti to avoid getting too cold. But in this Avocado smoothie with banana recipe, I put on my sweater and fuzzy socks and had it right away because it was so tasty!
How did this Avocado smoothie recipe come about?
Well… Long story short, SEO.
I am trying to search engine optimize my website so that I can get more traffic organically. You would have thought that a marketing major would’ve done that from the start but I didn’t… I actually didn’t understand it much at first. But now I am a lot better!
So after doing a ton of research on which smoothie recipes are not extremely competitive online, I decided to go with this banana avocado smoothie for now.
Avocados are something I love and can’t get enough of usually so there you have it!
Are avocados a fruit or a vegetable though!?
Here we have the question of the century!
As avocados became more and more trendy, the confusion kept growing… Are they a fruit of vegetable?
Crazy enough avocados are considered a fruit! They are considered a single-seeded berry since they have a sweet yet savory flesh. on the other hand it is said that avocados nutritionally are more like a vegetable and are listed as such on USDA sites!
Does this avocado smoothie taste like avocados?
Not specifically… The avocado flavor is counteracted by the banana, but having both of those together adds an unbelievable smooth texture to the smoothie itself. It ends up being thick and creamy with an almost heavy creamy flavor! It tastes just like a dessert! If you really look for the avocado flavor hard enough in the smoothie you might get it but it is so slight that even those who don’t love avocados too much would still enjoy this drink!

How to make an amazing avocado banana smoothie ?
All you have to do to realize this quick Avocado smoothie with banana will throw the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth! This will make for the perfect avocado breakfast smoothie… Or anytime of the day smoothie realistically!
Can you use frozen bananas?
Absolutely!
I often don’t like using frozen fruits if the weather is kinda cold, since it makes me even more chilly. But if you feel up to it, by all means, go ahead! Use one very ripe frozen banana instead of one regular very ripe non frozen banana.
Can you use frozen avocados?
Again, absolutely!
If you want to use frozen avocados though, make sure that they were very ripe before they were frozen. You don’t want to end up having chunks of unblended avocados in your smoothie because the avocados were not ripe and creamy enough!
Always make sure that you are using peeled avocados. They are not meant to be eaten with the skin!

Substitutes for this avocado smoothie with banana
I love smoothies because they are so easily customizable, in this case you can substitute many of the ingredients I used here with somehting else!
- Milk- I used coconut milk here and you can use any other dairy free milks if you are going for a vegan option. But if you don’t mind for it being dairy free or vegan use regular cow milk! If you are trying to take it up a notch, use whole milk to make it extra creamy.
- Banana – Banana goes amazingly well with avocados but if you don’t have bananas or are not a big fan of them you could always switch them for another fruit. Some good substitutions here would be: Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries, even Mixed Berries, Mangoes, Oranges, Pineapple… So pretty much what I’m saying is that the possibilities are endless. Pick your favorite flavor profiles and go with it. I also like to have chocolate avocado smoothies from time to time, so I add a little dutch cocoa powder and some sweetener (either honey or maple syrup) to make for the perfect smoothie when you are craving something chocolatey!
