  1. Lightly butter or spray an 8×8-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and set it aside.

  3. Take the saucepan off the heat and immediately pour in the Hot Cheetos. Stir quickly until chips are evenly coated in the gooey marshmallow mixture. Some chips may break during mixing, which is perfectly fine.
  4. Transfer the coated mixture to the prepared baking dish. Press it down firmly using a buttered spatula or greased hands to create an even layer.
  5. Let the mixture cool at room temperature for 30 minutes to an hour until fully set.

Hot Cheetos Marshmallow Krispie Treats Tips and Tricks

  • Crush some of the Cheetos for a better balance of texture.
  • Use fresh marshmallows because stale marshmallows won’t melt as smoothly, and will yield hard krispy treat.
  • Don’t overheat the marshmallows because it can make them hard and stiff when they set,. Keep them on the heat just until they melt then remove from the heat.

Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ

Can I use different types of Cheetos?

Yes! When I first thought of making this, I originally wanted to use the Limon Hot Cheetos but thought the citrus flavor would be weird with the marshmallows. But after making this recipe, I would totally try it next time, so if you’re a fan of the Lime Hot Cheetos, then go for it. And if you don’t like spicy and want to use regular Cheetos then that totally works as well.

How do I make these even spicier?

I honestly thought that the marshmallows really toned down the spice of the Cheetos and really wanted to taste the heat more. If you’re like me, then sprinkle some Tajin, cayenne pepper, or chili powder into the melted marshmallow mixture before adding the Hot Cheetos. You can also drizzle some hot sauce on top before they set! You can also use the xxtra hot cheetos instead of the regular ones for more of a kick.

Can I make these treats ahead of time?

Yes! They can be made a day in advance. Just avoid refrigerating them, as it can make them too hard. I like to store mine in a ziplock bag so they stay soft for longer.

How do I store my leftover Hot Cheetos Marshmallow Crispy Treats?

These can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 or 4 days.

Can I make this recipe in the microwave instead of on the stove?

Sure! Melt the butter and marshmallows in a large microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals while stirring in between until smooth. Then, mix in the Hot Cheetos and follow the rest of the steps as usual.
