Frequently asked questions – FAQ

How to store coffee mate Italian sweet cream?

If you’ve wondered how long does the Italian sweet cream last in the fridge? I got the answer for you! This creamer can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for about one week. Shake well before using to ensure that the ingredients are well combined and you get the right amount of flavor of everything in your drink.

Can I make a larger batch of the Italian sweet cream recipe and freeze it for later use?

I do not recommend freezing your creamer because it can cause it to separate and become grainy. Some people have had some success in freezing their homemade creamer in small ice cube trays and using those as ice cubes in their ice coffee though. So if you do try to freeze your creamer please let us know how it worked out.

Can I use a non-dairy milk substitute in this recipe, such as almond milk or soy milk?

You can definitely use non-dairy milk substitutes such as almond milk, soy milk, or even oat milk in this Italian sweet cream creamer. Non-dairy milks can work well in homemade creamers and can add a unique flavor to the creamer. Keep in mind that non-dairy milks may have a thinner consistency than dairy milk, so you may need to adjust the amount of milk or cream in the recipe to get the desired texture. For the sweetened condensed milk, use the coconut version instead to keep this dairy free.

Do you use a measuring cup to actually measure out 7 oz of the e sweetened condensed milk? I had the can of sweetened condensed milk which is 14 oz so I poured that into measuring cup to measure an actual 7 0z which is about most of the can leaves just a little in the can . Sorry just wanted to make sure I was doing that right ?

    1. Chahinez says:

I used a kitchen scale as that is easier for me but you can just eyeball it and use half of a 14oz can to get that 7ounces of sweetened condensed milk then taste as you go to see if you like it or if you prefer it sweeter!

An “evil” Walmart customer suggested I try the Italian Sweet Cream many many years ago and I’ve paid that “addiction” forward. That being said, this is the BEST Italian Sweet Cream recipe that I’ve ever tried. I made a double batch and am drinking my coffee right now! I made with all organic ingredients… one more chemical thing off my shopping list! Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe!

is there a way to make this sugar-free? just asking for a diabetics out here

      2. Chahinez says:

I would love for a sugar free sweetened condensed milk!

  7. Don Williams says:

Thank you so much. I was using the C.M. Version of this for years. They started using soybean oil and completely ruined it. This is better than the C.M. version and without all the added junk. I thank you again. Best wishes.

    1. Chahinez says:

That makes me so happy to hear!

This came out fantastic and considering coffee mate has like 60 added chemicals is much better than what it’s imitating!

    1. Chahinez says:

      Thank you!

I left a review of the recipe. And it was my fault. I grabbed evaporated milk instead of sweetened condensed milk. So I will have to try and do it correctly. Sorry didn’t want to misguided somebody . When the mistake and fault was my own

    1. Chahinez says:

It’s okay! We all make mistakes 😊

      1. Leeanne says:

I’m so excited to try this in the morning. I stopped buying coffee mate once they put artificial sweetener in it. This recipe is all so much healthier

      2. Chahinez says:

That’s great to hear! Making your own homemade version can be a healthier and more satisfying alternative.

  10. Stacey says:

Any chance you have a version of the Amaretto creamer they use to make?

    1. Chahinez says:

I don’t but you can actually use this same base recipe and just increase the almond extract to 1/2 teaspoon or more and keep out the vanilla. That’ll get you very close to that flavor.
