Hey friends! I am back with a new recipe that is well on time for this holiday season, but first, let me share this awesome quote with you guys;
To me, this is such a powerful quote because we often worry about what-ifs instead of believing that whatever we want and desire is on its way to us. The crazy thing too is that the more we worry about it the more we are pushing the possibility of it happening away! The best thing to do in cases like these is to trust the law of attraction and let go. This is something I am trying to implement in my blog, I often worry about getting enough visitors or if my articles are good enough to get me an audience. But at a certain point all I can do it trust that whatever I want and desire is out there for me to grab, and all I have to do is work towards it and trust and believe that is it happening since it is all part of the process.
But now back to this holiday recipe! Honestly… Can you guess that this pie shell/ dough is not homemade!? Doesn’t it look amazing!?
When I made it this weekend, all my friends were so mesmerized by how beautiful the sweet potato tart that I made for our Friendsgiving/thanksgiving came out. Well, today in this post I have the four secret tricks that will make your store-bought crust look better than a homemade one too!

Well to be able to make this easy store-bought dough seem homemade and taste amazing you have to:
- Change the typical pie shape, go for a tart shell shape which makes everyone think your pies and tarts are so much fancier!
I used this for this tart
You could also use this for an easier, more professional finish - Pre-bake your pie/ tart shells before adding the filling into them.
- Use pie weights to avoid your crust from rising when you are pre-baking it.
Click here if you want to get some pie weights - brush the pie/tart shell with egg wash as soon as it comes out of the oven to reinforce it and avoid having any leakage when filling up the tart.
And there you have it, four awesome tips to make your store-bought pie crust look better than a homemade one. Now moving on to the step by step recipe for this easy pie shell.
Step by Step Store-Bought Pie Crust Recipe
Yield one tart shell
Prep Time 15 minutes
Total Time 45 minutes
Ingredients and utensils
1 store-bought Pillsbury pie crust
1 egg white
Cheesecake mold, 9 inches
Pie weights/ dry beans
Saran wrap or parchment paper
grater
Directions
- First, turn on your oven to 375 degrees.
- Then start by pressing the crust into the cheesecake mold or whatever pan or tin you are using for your pie shell.
- Chill it for about 30 minutes to get a nice and firm crust.
Now it is time to blind bake the shell! This will help avoid a soggy bottom when you add your pie/ tart filling. - Place the saran wrap on top of the crust and fill it up with dry beans, making sure to get in all the cracks and crevices of the tart to make sure it doesn’t rise in the middle. Close the saran wrap over the beans before going to the oven.
- You could also crumble some parchment paper and place it on top of the crust and then top it with dry beans if you don’t have any saran wrap.

- Bake the prepared crust at 375 degrees for about 30 minutes, this will avoid a soggy bottom when you fill up your tart.
- The trick to avoiding having the filling seep into the crust and make it soggy is to brush the pie shell with the egg whites while it is still hot. This will create a thin protective layer that will keep everything in place while avoiding soggy pie crust.
- Set this aside to cool completely before getting your grater and fixing up the edges to make everything even and uniform.
This will allow you to have all even sides.
- adding your filling, and TADA! There you go, a store-bought pie dough that will literally surprise everyone this thanThanksgiving holiday season 🙂
