Ingredients for this Crumbl French Silk Pie Cookies recipe
Here are the ingredients you will need to make this Crumbl dupe. Make sure to scroll down to the recipe card for the full detailed ingredient measurements.
- Oreos– Make sure to use regular Oreos and not the double stuffed or thin ones.
- Flour– AP flour works great here.
- Black cocoa– In the spirit of keeping this cookie the same as the Crumbl Oreo one we will be using black cocoa.
- Baking soda & baking powder– These will give our cookie a little height.
- Cornstarch– This will make the cookies extra tender.
- Salt– The salt will help balance out the sweetness of this recipe.
- Butter– Make sure to use softened butter. You can use either salted or unsalted.
- Brown sugar & granulated sugar- The combination of sugars will help make this cookie extra soft
- Egg– The egg is our binding agent.
- Vanilla extract– The vanilla extract will add extra depth to the cookies and the frosting as well.
- Chocolate pudding- This is used to make the chocolate mousse
- Powdered sugar
- Heavy cream & milk
- Semi-sweet chocolate- We use chocolate in the mousse as well.
- Whipped cream– Make homemade or store-bought.
- Chocolate curls– Optional for decorations
Can I use double-stuff Oreos or thin Oreos for this recipe?
No, make sure to use regular Oreos to keep the texture of these cookies the same. If you use the double stuffed Oreos, the stuffing will bring too much moisture to these cookies and if you use the think ones, there won’t be enough cookies or stuffing to make the exact cookie dough that I made for this recipe. Please stick to the regular oreos.

CAN I USE REGULAR COCOA POWDER INSTEAD OF BLACK COCOA POWDER?
Yes, you can. I prefer using black cocoa to make it really taste like Oreo cookies, but if you are in a pinch and don’t have it, regular will work just fine!

Can I freeze these Crumbl French silk pie cookies?
These cookies can also be frozen in an air-tight container for up to 2 months. Make sure to flash freeze them first to allow the frosting to set before transferring them to an air-tight container so that it doesn’t get smooshed.

Instead of making 8 large cookies, you can also make 16 smaller cookies. Now, instead of baking them for 10 minutes you can bake them for 8 minutes, use a tablespoon to make the indentation in the center, let them cool down on the baking sheet fully then transfer the mini cookies to a cooling rack.

Notes
Notes
- Black cocoa is a very dark, Dutch-processed cocoa powder (similar to the flavor in Oreos). If you can’t find it, you can substitute regular Dutch-process cocoa, but the cookies will be lighter in color and slightly different in taste.
- Pudding — use instant chocolate pudding mix, not the kind you cook. The recipe calls for 2 oz (dry mix only) straight from the packet. Do not prepare the pudding beforehand.
- Make-ahead option — you can refrigerate the cookie dough (covered) for up to 24 hours or freeze it for up to 2 months. If baking from frozen, add 1–2 extra minutes to the bake time.
- Cookie size — for large cookies, use a large (about 4 tbsp) cookie scoop; for mini cookies, use a small (about 2 tbsp) scoop.
- Indentation tip — press the center while the cookies are still warm using a measuring cup to create the “pie crust” look.
- Storage — store cookies in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Best enjoyed at room temperature.

Can I make the dough ahead of time?
Hi Gabbi! Yes, you can make the dough ahead of time. Wrap it tightly and refrigerate for up to 24 hours or freeze for up to 2 months. If baking from frozen, add 1–2 minutes to the bake time.
This was a real winner. I entered a cookie competition and won!
OMG that’s awesome, Congrats!! 🥳
I’d love to try this recipe, but I am confused. Your replies to comments say both to use instant pudding mix and some of your other replies say to use prepared pudding. So, do I use 2 oz of the powdered pudding mix or prepared pudding?
Hi Lori! Sorry for the confusion, you should use 2 oz of instant chocolate pudding mix, straight from the packet (dry). No need to prepare it first.
I have to say you recipes are fantastic, I am a Baker by heart and these cookies are truly great. You explain you recipes very thoroughly so even a new Baker can turn out a amazing cookie.Keep up the good work.
Hi Lenny! Thank you so much, your kind words mean a lot! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the recipes. ❤️
it’s Awesome And Very Very Testy And Easy Ho Happy My Family Thanks For
french silk pie crumbl cookie
I made these dairy free and used silk heavy whipping cream and earth balance butter. I didn’t make any other adjustments because I saw the cornstarch in the cookies and everything went well.
That’s great!
The recipe calls for chocolate pudding mix. What kind? The type you cook, or instant? My daughter tried to make these and the mousse mixture wouldn’t thicken. She used the cook type; I’m assuming it should be instant.
Hi Ingrid! Yes, your assumption is correct, the recipe uses instant chocolate pudding mix, not the cook-and-serve kind. The cook type won’t set the same way.
These were fantastic! I doubled the recipe and I’m currently eating one… two days later. It might be even better than the first day! I wanted a copycat recipe for Crave’s version of this cookie because it’s amazing! I ate one from Crumbl earlier this week and I didn’t actually like theirs nearly as much as Crave. THIS recipe is FOR SURE better than Crumbl! So so good! I will definitely make these again!
That’s awesome! I’m glad you love the recipe 😁
Just made your snickerdoodle cooked and they were a 10! These are up next! 2 questions…what is black cocoa? Also is the chocolate pudding like the jello packet or pre made chocolate pudding?
Hi Laura! Black cocoa is a deep, dark Dutch-processed cocoa (think Oreo flavor). And yes, the pudding is instant chocolate pudding mix, like the Jell-O packets, not pre-made pudding. You’ll use just the dry mix.
What size cookie scoop did you use for the large cookies, and what size do you use for the mini cookies?
Hi Cheri! For large cookies, I use a large 4-tbsp scoop. For minis, a small 2-tbsp scoop works great.
I assume you take the filling out of the oreo cookies?
No, keep them 🙂
This was sooo good! Taste just like a french silk pie! I make a lot of cookies and this was a family favorite!
That’s awesome! I’m glad it’s a family favorite 🙂
Do you use instant chocolate pudding in this recipe?
Yes I do! I have a link to the exact one in same blog!
Assuming you used instant chocolate pudding. It the kind you cook?
Hi Tracy! Yes, you’ll want to use instant chocolate pudding mix, not the cook-and-serve kind.
