Brace yourselves! The best doctored up yellow cake mix recipe is here. This recipe was a weird one to be honest. I had very low expectations when I made it the first time but it literally blew my mind.

Cake mix is cool and all, but it often takes fake and has that artificial and chemically flavor unless you do a lot of things to it. This recipe had none of those issues and turned out insanely good!!

This is the best crack cake recipe ever!

I am so convinced that you and your family will love this cake because when I served this cake at a birthday party, the first person who tried it was like:

OH MY GOD! WHAT IS THIS!! It tastes amazing! (I’m serious, this was word for word their reaction!)

Keep in mind that this person doesn’t like sweets or dessert, so it was definitely a win. This cake is easy enough to whip up in an hour and tastes so good that people won’t even know you used cake mix and instant pudding to make it like this!

What is crack cake?

What is crack cake?

The first time I saw this title, I kinda laughed a little. It’s pretty ingenious don’t you think?

It’s pretty much a cake that’s so good that you probably will get addicted to it, just like crack (never tried it but I do know it’s addictive for sure). You guys, I can stand behind the statement fully, this cake is addictive AF!

I don’t know if the process of making it, pouring the wine syrup over the hot cake, or eating it is most addictive. I would say every step of this beautiful bundt cake is as addictive as the next.

The crack cake is made using yellow cake mix with a couple other ingredients to make the base. Then it’s soaked in this wine, butter and sugar syrup. Oh lord! Absolutely delicious!

What makes this cinnamon crack cake special?

Here are a few reasons why I think you need to make this white wine bundt cake as soon as possible!

  • It uses yellow cake mix and vanilla pudding and doctors them up to make the best cake ever.
  • This bundt cake is extremely tender and moist.
  • It has a butter and white wine syrup. I call that a flavor power house.
  • The hands on time you’ll spend making this cake is close to nothing.
  • It is impressive and the perfect cake for the holidays, family get togethers, and celebrations.
Ingredients for crack cake

Ingredients for crack cake

Here are the ingredients you will need for this easy bundt cake recipe:

  • Yellow cake mix- You will need one pre-made cake mix box. This recipe uses the 15.25 oz one.
  • Instant vanilla pudding- You will also need one 3.4 oz box of instant vanilla pudding.
  • Cinnamon– The cinnamon will give a nice spice to this butter wine cake.
  • Brown sugar and granulated sugar- You will need less sugar that what the traditional crack cake recipes ask for. Don’t worry, it’ll still be sweet, it will just be more balanced.
  • Vegetable oil– The vegetable oil will make this cake extra moist.
  • Water– The water is used to create the cake batter.
  • Eggs- The eggs are the binding agent in this recipe.
  • White whine– You can use any white wine you want, I used an alcohol removed white wine and this recipe was a total hit.
  • Butter– The butter is used to make the butter wine sauce for this bundt cake recipe.

White wine cake

This is also called a white wine cake, but since we don’t drink alcohol I used an alcohol removed wine and it worked amazingly. This cake with the alcohol removed is perfect for pregnant women or even children!

You can also make your crack cake with no wine. All you need to do is substitue the wine in the recipe with milk or buttermilk. For the syrups you could also replace the wine with a 1:1 ratio or water with a bit of lemon or orange zest to give it a kick.

Another wine substitution you can use in this cake would be your regular white grape juice.

How to store crack cake?

To store your crack cake, place it in an airtight container and store it in the fridge for up to 7 days. Whenever you’re ready to enjoy it you can microwave a slice in the microwave for 15-20 seconds.

Can I freeze crack cake?

Absolutely! This cake is very moist so it makes it easier to freeze. Wrap each cake slice then place it in an airtight container and freeze the cake for up to 2 months.

When you are ready to enjoy it, pull out the cake from the freezer and let it thaw overnight in the fridge. You will have the perfect cake to enjoy the next day.

Tips to get a bundt cake out of the pan

I have had my fair share or bundt cakes that don’t come our of the pan. During all my trial and errors I have learned a thing or two so now I am here to share all my tips to get your bundt cake our of the pan too:

  • Tips to get bundt cake out of the pan
  • Make sure to use a non-stick bundt cake pan. I know this sounds silly, but not all pans are created equal. So make sure your bundt cake pan is non stick (don’t worry if it’s not, we got more tips to come).
  • Grease your pan with shortening and then dust it with flour. Make sure you get every little nook and cranny.
  • Don’t let the cake cool fully or chill in the pan because it will solidify and stick to the pan. If you did this, you can place your bundt cake pan in a hot water bath for a few minutes to get everything warm again before flipping it on a plate.
