You guys! I just got my first order of Hungryroot, and I am beyond excited to share with you how I feel about it. I’ve been seeing their ads for awhile and finally decided to pull the trigger. Plus I got a discounted one-week trial so how could I resist?!
This post was sponsored by Hungryroot, all opinions shared on here are my own.
If you’ve ever stared into your fridge after a long day with zero dinner plans, you’re not alone. I can’t tell you how many times a frozen pizza or chicken tenders have saved me. And you might think, “but you’re a food blogger, aren’t you always in the kitchen”? I am, but I’m also just a girl who gets overwhelmed with the stress of life while also trying to be healthy. So, that’s exactly why I decided to give this service a shot. And if you’re anything like me, by the time you’re done reading this, you might just try it as well.
Since you’re already here, here is a 40% off discount you can use in your first Hungryroot delivery that will not only give you a hefty discount but a free gift with purchase too!! Use code CHAHINEZ40 at checkout and don’t forget to let me know what you thought too in the comments below!
What is Hungryroot?
If you’ve never heard of Hungryroot before, you’d probably think it’s just another meal-kit delivery service on the surface, but it’s so much more than that! After taking their short quiz to start, you’ll see that there are several fun, helpful, and unique features that no one else seems to offer.
Just one of the numerous examples is the fact that you can buy actual groceries on top of your meals. Let’s say you ran out of ketchup or remembered you needed to grab fresh fruit on your way home from work. It’s not a problem because Hungryroot has it! They even offer supplements, beverages, and so much more!
What sets Hungryroot apart from other services?
They incorporate other brands
Since we don’t normally use these services, I thought it would be a fun idea to surprise my husband with it and not tell him what was inside. Upon opening the box, he was very excited and pleased to see food brands and products that we were familiar with but had never tried. He was most excited about trying the Kevin’s Natural Foods pre-made meat dishes and The New Primal meat sticks since we’ve always passed them in the grocery store aisles but never got them.
For me, it was all about the sweets. I’ve had the Unreal dark chocolate treats and the Petit Pot pudding cups before and absolutely love that they’re included. I really like the fact that this company doesn’t limit you to just their own products and helps you enjoy others that you know and love. It allows you to discover new brands, shows you how to incorporate them into meals, helps to make it portion-controlled (especially the desserts), and is bought all in one order.
They cover every meal and snack, day and night
What really surprised me about Hungryroot is the scope of what they offer. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with every snack in between and a sweet treat at the end. This is incredible to me because most, if not all, of the other comparable meal-delivery services only offer pre-made frozen meals or deconstructed dinners. What happens if you’re a pro at dinner-time but struggle in the morning for breakfast or deciding what to have as a midday snack? This feels like the only company I’ve seen that actually helps people solve their eating dilemmas no matter the time of day. And as far as the options, it’s almost endless.
Wider range of customized diets and meal-types
Using Hungryroot is like having a personal shopper, recipe developer, and nutritionist all in one. They have literally dozens of meal plans based on nutritional needs and wants, with thousands of recipes to choose from. It’s honestly too much to sift through them all. So they do the work for you and tailor your week’s worth of food to exactly what you’re looking for, while giving you way more options than any other service can. It takes 99% of the effort out of deciding what to eat and can satisfy even the pickiest of eaters; I know because I’m one of them.
Maybe being picky isn’t the issue, but time is. They have countless homemade recipes designed to be ready in under 5 minutes, with even more to be made in under 20. On top of that, you can narrow it down even further by specifying which cooking appliance you prefer to use. Looking for homemade-quality meals to microwave at work for lunch? Or maybe you like to come home and pop something in the oven or air fryer and set a timer as you walk away to unwind? (My personal favorite). Or maybe you want all of the above with a one-night-a-week date night where you chef it up over the stove for your significant other? The ease and convenience, personal tailoring and customizability, and abundance of options from Hungryroot is truly unmatched.
They have actual groceries
Like I mentioned earlier, Hungryroot sells a la carte produce and foods outside of needing it for recipes. You may not initially see the point in this since we’ve always just gone to the store ourselves and bought whatever we needed. But the main difference I see in this feature is preventing food waste, better portion control, and saving you at the last-minute. As far as food waste, I frequently have to throw away the remaining parts of a wilting cilantro bunch or molded tortillas because I don’t use it all before it expires. Buying those ingredients from this service allows me to receive a proper amount that I know I’m going to use, helping to reduce overall waste.
And speaking of portion control, hello desserts? I think we all could use a little help on that end whenever it’s given. Hungryroot gives you the option to buy one, two, or however many servings you want instead of just getting it in bulk from the store and having to make your self-control kick in to stop yourself from grabbing a second serving late at night. The last reason why this feature is great is that it quite simply just saves you time, which is very valuable. Being able to get your meals selected for the week, and then grabbing whatever miscellaneous extras you need allows to save a trip to the store entirely. This gives you the freedom to focus on what matters more, whether that means going harder at work, spending more quality time with family and friends, or just making more time for yourself (which should not be overlooked).
