So I guess technically they are pretty different from brownies because they are a very different dessert I’d say. They do not have any cocoa powder which keeps them lighter, hence the “blondie” name!

- 1 large egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ¼ cup flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup chocolate chunks optional
Instructions
Make the brown butter
- In a small heavy-bottomed saucepan, over medium heat, melt the butter, making sure to stir continuously. Continue cooking it for 3-5 minutes or until the butter is foamy and turns medium golden brown.
- This process is called browning the butter. Keep a close eye on it because it can burn easily. Remove from the heat, transfer to a medium bowl, and let the butter cool down to room temperature. It doesn't have to harden.
Make the brown butter blondie
- Preheat the oven to 350F then line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- When the butter is at room temperature, mix the melted brown butter and brown sugar together on medium speed until combined.
- Add the egg, the egg yolk, and the vanilla extract and whip until everything is light and fluffy. This process will create a beautiful crinkly top.
- Mix in the flour and salt just until the flour disappears. You don't want to over-mix the brown butter blondie mix. Fold in the chocolate or whatever mix-ins you decide to use.

Second time in about 3 days that I make these and they always come out perfect. They’re probably one the easiest, most delicious brownie recipe I’ve ever done.
This is definitely a new favourite and cannot wait to try with other add-ons.
Thank you!
Chahinez
That’s fantastic! Blondies are such a delicious treat, and it’s great that you’ve found a recipe that you love. Adding different mix-ins or toppings can really change up the flavors, so there’s plenty of room to get creative

I’ve made these several times. So great! and the house smells fantastic. Today I made two 9 X 13 pans as dessert for the jazz big band performing locally tonight. I do like to add a little molasses to deepen the flavor but not absolutely necessary.
Chahinez
That’s awesome!
Alyssa
This is the best recipe for blondies ever! I have always included the chocolate because me and my family can’t resist a big cookie. I’ve commented before but I have to again because this is the 3rd or 4th time making and it’s always perfect. They really are the best blondies ever. I would love to make them without the chocolate chips and maybe with some pecans or walnuts like a brownie would have. The brown butter really makes this blondie base perfect. Thank you for sharing!
Chahinez
I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe! 🙂

Love these! Made them for my daughter’s 6th birthday, my husband tried one and immediately said, you need to make more. They’re phenomenal!
Lara
My kids adored these! I did too. I wanted to make them a little healthier, so I cut the sugar to 1 cup and added 1/2 cups toasted oats. I decreased the flour by 1/4 cup to compensate. I also stirred in 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips.
They still had that wonderful chewy, buttery, caramelly blondie quality, even with the adjustments.

Lara
I tried them again tonight with 2 whole eggs and liked them even more!
Alyssa
This blondie recipe is a hit! Every time I make these they disappear so fast, I have to hide them from my family to cool. I do add the chocolate so they’re like chocolate chip cookies. And the salt is a must it just keeps them nicely balanced. I am in love with these! I’ve shared them with neighbors and they love them too!
Chahinez
YAY! Great to hear these cookies are a hit with the family!!
Romina
These are amazing! The brown butter makes them perfectly nutty and they are SO addictive.

Delicious! So crisp plus the crust was nice and chewy. Brown the butter for the recommended time. Gives these blondies that extra bit of flavor.
Chahinez
The browned butter is definitely a must! Enjoy!

Ahhhmazing!!! Love the crispy top and soft middle of these blondies. This was my first time baking with brown butter, and it definitely won’t be my last!
Chahinez

Can this recipe be doubled and put in a 9×13 pan?
Chahinez
Yes, it can! Bake for about 25-30 minutes.
Lexie Green
These are so good. One of the best things I have ever tasted. No joke. I used part regular butter and part kerrigold (both salted) and good quality chocolate chips. I omited the salt since i was using salted butter and the dough itself tasted incredible. Seriously, these are so good. I loved the taste of the browned salted butter, it just balanced everything out perfectly. So simple and tasted so incredibly good.
Chahinez
Thank you so much for such a thorough review, Lexie! I bet the Kerrygold butter took these to the next level. Your words are making me want to get to the kitchen and make these again 🙂 Enjoy.
