I like to think of myself as a frugal bee. Growing up in Algeria, we didn’t have credit cards, which meant I had to save my money to buy what I needed or wanted. I couldn’t just pull out a credit card, buy whatever I wanted and then pay for it at some point (hopefully).
That has lead for me to become fairly frugal… Ask my boyfriend! I will always find a good deal, regardless of what it is. When it came to my favorite Starbucks drink, the “sweet cream cold brew” I knew I had to start making it at home because those $5 drinks every day started to add up!
This is gonna be your newest favorite Starbucks sweet cream cold brew recipe! Ps: It’ll save you a ton of money too…
I started trying to make it at home here and there, of course, I still waited in the Starbucks drive through lane to make sure that I kept my palette fresh and had something to compare my drinks to (This makes a lot of sense in my head, but I can see how it can sound like an excuse haha!)
After a few trials, I had a winner. I was able to make the best Starbucks copycat sweet cream cold brew. It almost tasted better than the Starbucks drink that I was used to because I made it at home, knew exactly what was in it, and it has some vanilla beans, because TREAT YO SELF!
So without further ado, I won’t be keeping you here for longer.

Here is exactly why you need to try this Starbucks copycat sweet cream cold brew.

What Is Starbucks-Style Sweet Cream?
Starbucks sweet cream is heaven in a cold brew cup. It is pretty much a smooth, lightly sweetened, very creamy vanilla creamer. This version of the Starbucks sweet cream cold brew is lightly sweetened with maple syrup and has a beautiful hint of cream flavor. The density of the sweet cream is what allows it to gently cascade in your cold brew drink. making for the BEST Instagram worthy pic.

Ingredients for vanilla sweet cream cold brew recipe
To make this homemade vanilla bean sweet cream creamer, you will need the following ingredients:
- Half and half– The half and half is the base of this sweet cream recipe.
- Heavy cream– Heavy cream adds that naturally sweet creamy flavor. We don’t use too much heavy cream because it’s fairly thick, but that little amount helps give this drink that sweet cream flavor.
- Maple syrup- Maple syrup adds a light sweetness and depth to this vanilla sweet cream cold brew.
- Vanilla bean paste– We use vanilla bean paste both for the vanilla sweet cream flavor as well as for the look!
- Cold-brew coffee– You can use either homemade cold brew or you can use store-bought. For this specific recipe, I went with the store-bought Starbucks iced coffee for a more authentic taste.

What is cold brew coffee?
I remember when I started working at Bouchon bakery and became a coffee connoisseur. Cold-brew was the holy grail, everyone ordered it, everyone loved it, but not everyone knew how it was made. My job was to explain the simple process that is cold brew so here it is.
Cold brew is as you might’ve guessed coffee that is brewed with cold water. The process takes a little more time than regular brewed coffee but makes the final cup of joe a whole lot less acidic. This yields a smoother and sweeter coffee that tastes incredible over ice. If you are making your own homemade cold brew coffee, you are gonna want to mix it with a little water because it comes out very concentrated. But since I purchased mine from the store, it was already pre mixed for me!

Ingredient substitutions
- Maple syrup- If you don’t have maple syrup you can go for honey, vanilla syrup, or simply simple syrup.
- Vanilla bean paste– If you don’t have vanilla bean paste, you can just use regular vanilla extract.
- Heavy cream– Don’t have heavy cream? No problem. You can omit it completely. I like to add the heavy cream because it adds that sweet cream flavor that we all love.
Is this sweet cream cold brew super sweet?
It is not. This sweet cream contains a little maple to bring the natural sweetness of the cream out. When I add it to my cold brew coffee, it has a slight hint of sweetness but a whole lot more cream flavor.

Mix the water and the ground coffee together in a large glass pitcher, a bottle, or a jar, and steep for 12-24 hours.

Great recipe. If we in total have 1-1/4 cup of this creamer, it makes 5 servings. How is 1 serving 74kcal? To me it at least twice as that?
Hi Vito!
Thank you so much for pointing that out, that was a typo on my part. With the rest of the ingredient it would make about 6 servings so I just fixed that and fixed the calories accordingly as well!
Thank you so much again and have a great week,
Chahinez
