- Can of pineapple– I used crushed pineapple with juice that is in it to make a super creamy ice cream recipe. You can use either pineapple in light syrup or pineapple in heavy syrup. The best part about this is that you can really tweak your dessert to your liking!
- Powdered sugar- We use a little extra sugar to accentuate the pineapple flavor but the great thing is that you can control how much sugar goes in there and you can also use substitutes if you’d like. Maple syrup or honey will work great for this soft-serve mix.
Substitutions and variations
- You can add a little coconut milk instead of using the juices from the canned pineapple to make it more like ice cream.
- Feel free to experiment with different fruits to get other sorbet recipes.
How to make this creamy pineapple sorbet in the ninja creami
This is how you can make this delicious and creamy sorbet. Make sure to scroll down to the recipe card for the full detailed instructions!
- In your ninja creami pint container add the canned pineapple and the powdered sugar if you are using added sugar.
- Give it a good stir to dissolve the powdered sugar then place the storage lid on top of your container and freeze for 24 hours, this in my opinion is the hardest part of the whole process.
- Once you are ready for your ice cream place the pint container in the outer bowl of the device, top with the outer bowl lid, and lock in your machine.
- Press the sorbet button and allow it to do its thing.
- If the mixture looks a little crumble, hit the re-spin cycle button and your own pineapple sorbet should be ready after that!
- Enjoy as is or with some chamoy and tajin for a delicious summery treat.
Frequently asked questions – FAQ
How to store this simple recipe for later?
The coolest part is that you can enjoy whoever much you want to enjoy then place the lid back on and freeze until you want some sorbet again.
All you would have to do is blend the mixture again in your Ninja creami the same way you did the first time and enjoy!
CAN I USE A SUGAR SUBSTITUTE IN THIS RECIPE TO MAKE A LOW CALORIE sorbet?
You sure can! Instead of regular powdered sugar you can use monk fruit powdered sugar and try looking for a no-sugar added canned pineapple as well for a lower calorie treat.
Can I use this as a base recipe for other ninja creami sorbet recipes?
Definitely! You can make a peach sorbet the exact same way using canned peaches and a little sugar. This will yield a super creamy dessert that you won’t be able to get enough of!
How is this different from ice cream?
Ice cream is usually made with dairy and sorbet isn’t. So since this isn’t made with dairy we would call it a sorbet!
Can I add mix-ins to my pineapple sorbet?
Thanks to the mix-in option in the Ninja creami you sure can. Now what to add will be up to you! My favorite thing to add to this is Tajin!
Can I use fresh pineapple instead of canned in this recipe?
You can but it will be a little bit different from the canned version.
My biggest top would be to blend the fresh pineapple so that it is easier to blend later on once it is frozen. We don’t want to damage the blade after all.
Plus adding some liquid to the mix would also help a ton, try a splash of lime juice, some coconut milk or cream, or even pineapple juice to thin out our pineapple mixture.
