Alright, let’s get into everything you need to know about this easy tiramisu recipe.
What is tiramisu?
Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert known for its rich, creamy texture and flavors of coffee, cocoa, and mascarpone. The name tiramisu translates to “pick me up,” which makes sense thanks to the espresso-soaked layers.
Traditional tiramisu is made with sponge cake dipped in coffee and liqueur, layered with mascarpone and cocoa powder. While delicious, it can take a couple of hours to prepare. This easy version delivers the same indulgent flavor with far less effort.

Tools You’ll Need
To make this tiramisu recipe you will need:
- A hand mixer or stand mixer (highly recommended)
- 8×8 baking pan
- A fine mesh sieve (for dusting cocoa powder)

Ingredients for Easy Tiramisu
- Heavy cream – Use very cold heavy cream for best whipping results
- Mascarpone cheese – Bring to room temperature before mixing
- Granulated sugar – Just enough to lightly sweeten
- Vanilla extract – Use good-quality vanilla if possible
- Strong espresso or coffee – Espresso adds depth, but regular coffee works too
- Ladyfingers – Store-bought or homemade
- Cocoa powder – Use a good-quality cocoa for best flavor
What Are Ladyfingers (and Where to Find Them)?
Ladyfingers are dry, lightly sweet sponge biscuits shaped like fingers. They’re commonly used in desserts like tiramisu because they soak up liquid without falling apart.
You can usually find them in the cookie aisle at most grocery stores. If you can’t find them locally, they’re available online, or you can make them at home with this recipe.
Tips for the Best Tiramisu
- Use very cold heavy cream. Cold cream whips faster and holds its shape better.
- Dip ladyfingers quickly. About 5–8 seconds is perfect. Any longer and they’ll become soggy.
- Use room-temperature mascarpone. Cold mascarpone can create lumps in the cream mixture.

How to Make Easy Tiramisu (Step-by-Step)
This isn’t traditional tiramisu, and that’s what makes it so easy. Traditional versions require separating eggs, making custard, and folding multiple components together. This recipe skips all of that.
- Beat the mascarpone, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.

- Quickly dip ladyfingers into room-temperature coffee and line them in an 8×8-inch dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.

- Add another layer of coffee-dipped ladyfingers.
- Top with the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- Dust with cocoa powder and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight.

Alcohol or no alcohol In this Easy Tiramisu Recipe?
This recipe is alcohol-free, but you can easily add it if you prefer. Optional alcohol additions:
Here are some alcohol variations you can use for this recipe:
- Kahlua
- Dark rum
- Brandy
- Marsala wine
To add alcohol, stir about 3 tablespoons of coffee-flavored liqueur into the coffee before dipping the ladyfingers.
Substitutions
If you’re wondering what the substitutions for this recipe are, here you go!

I just made the laxy girl tiramusi recipe. I live in a small town and couldn’t find lady finger cookies. I substituted the cookies with Milano cookies. It was delicious and so easy to make. Thanks for making Father’s day a huge success!
I’m glad I could help 🙂
Awesome! No need to mess with eggs or other “non-sense”. I love putting things in my stand mixer and having it come out so well.
Same here!! Enjoy!!
Thank you so much! Yes the recipe is much easier. The egg custard in other recipes add another day for me.
Very delicious!
I made two small tiramisus! One for us and the other for a friend.
Thank you for the feedback Beverly! Glad to hear you liked it.
This recipe was wonderful and so easy to make! I love Tiramisu but never have made it bc it looked to intensive. Not this recipe! So easy, yet the results are a super luscious and creamy Tiramisu! It was a hit all around, and I will definitely be adding this to my recipe box.
Hey the goal is to make things a lot more easy to throw together and allow you to have more time to spend with your loved ones!
Each square of the tiramisu has a small bean garnish. Is that a coffee bean?
It sure is a coffee bean 🙂 Got those at sprouts!

If I can’t find ladyfingers what else could I use?
Any biscuits that you like! Honestly even cookies would work! (Think Oreos, chocolate chip cookies, or even Speculoos cookies)
Absolutely love the recipe, easy to make and delicious at the same time ❤️
Merci Ines!!!

I only used 1 teaspoon vanilla after tasting the whipped cream. Next time I will only use 1/4 cup sugar. Otherwise it’s a good recipe. Thanks.
I’m glad you liked it 🙂

It was awesome .
Can you freeze it ?
Hi Nina! Yes 🙂 You can freeze it but make sure to wrap it tightly. If you can freeze it without the cocoa powder on top, it would be even better 🙂 IT can last in the freezer for up to 2 months.
Chahinez
it was awesome. Can you freeze this desert?
Yes! You can freeze it for up to 2 months. Just make sure to wrap it tightly!
Love this! My wife made one recently that certainly was not as easy as this. Will pass this on for her as its a fave dessert.
Chahinez- If you double recipe, would a 9×13 pan be big enough? I have never made Tiramisu and like that this has no raw eggs. Thanks.
Yes! it would be perfect! So sorry for the late response.
