Equipment

  • bundt cake pan

Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 box instant vanilla pudding
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 eggs
  • ¾ cup water
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup white wine** I used alcohol free wine.

For the butter wine syrup

  • 1 stick salted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup white wine** I used non alcoholic wine

Instructions

  • Start by preheating the oven to 350F, then grease and flour your bundt cake pan and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, mix all of the ingredients using a whisk, a hand mixer or a stand mixer. Pour the cake batter into the prepared bundt pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until a wooden skewer comes out clean.

Make the butter and wine syrup

  • About 5-10 minutes before the cake is done baking, place the butter, sugar, and wine in a sauce pan and cook until the butter is fully melted and the sugar is dissolved.
  • Pour the butter sauce over your hot cake as soon as you pull it out of the oven. Let the cake absorb all the syrup this can take 15-20 minutes then turn the cake onto a cake plate, shake it a bit until it comes off and serve.

Notes

**If you want to make this crack cake with no alcohol, you can substitute the wine that's in the cake batter with milk or butter milk.
You can also substitute the ¼ cup wine in the butter sauce with a 1:1 ratio of water with a little sext of lemon or orange for an extra depth of flavor.
You can also substitute the white wine with white grape juice as well for a fully alcohol free cake.

This cake can be store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days.
